New Member Information
Welcome to the Twilight
League. We are so glad that you have joined. The following is some
information we thought you might like to know before you come out to play
golf with us.
Alternating
Play
We alternate our play
between Hobbit’s Glen and Fairway Hills golf courses. Tee times begin at 4:30PM
at Hobbit's Glen and at Fairway Hills and continue until 5:30PM. The
Signing Up
for a Tee Time
- There will be sign-up
sheets posted online each week, and on the Women's Twilight League
bulletin boards in the hallway outside of the Pro Shop at both Hobbit's
Glen and Fairway Hills courses.
- Please sign up in the
“New Member” column so that you are paired with some members who have been
playing in our league for a while. They will be able to answer any
questions you have. And please try to play with different people each week
so that you will meet all the members.
- We are flexible about tee
times. If you arrive earlier than your time and there is room in the group
ahead of you, you may go off earlier. Or you may go off with a later group
if you are running late. It is important though to sign up for a tee time,
so we can justify the tee times we take from the course.
Turning in
Your Score Card
When you finish playing a
round with us, you will need to total your score and your putts, sign and date
the card. You will then post your score on the sheet that will be hanging on
the Twilight League board in the hallway, then put your card in the envelope
hanging there.
Developing
a Handicap
If you do not already have a
handicap, you will need to acquire one in order to participate in the tournaments.
This is easy to do. Every time you play a round, on Thursday or any other day,
you should enter your score in the handicap computer which is located in the
pro shop at Hobbit’s Glen and in the hallway at Fairway Hills. All you will
need is your membership number, your score and the date you played. After you
have five scores in the computer, you will have a handicap which will be used
to determine your “Net” score in the tournaments. If you need help doing
this for the first time, ask another member of the league or someone behind the
desk to help you. You may also visit GolfNet
and enter your score online from your computer.
Handbooks
Handbooks for tournament
dates are available. Please contact the Tournament Chair.
USGA Rules
We do follow USGA rules. The
ball is played as it lies unless we are playing Winter Rules, and putts must be
holed.
E-mail
Just about all of our communications are sent by e-mail. We use e-mail to notify members about tee times, game-of-the week rules, list of weekly winners and social events. Please be sure to provide us your current e-mail address.
Lastly
Please have fun. Everyone in
the league was a new member at some point, so we all know there is a lot to
absorb and a lot of people to meet.
